The inexplicable and painful slump is over

Forwards rising and fallingAnze Kopitar, C, Los Angeles Kings (up 14 spots to No. 34): The inexplicable and painful slump is over. After scoring seven New York Islanders jersey points or fewer in each of the season’s first three months, Kopitar finished January with 14 points in 12 games. As I’ve mentioned previously Dylan DeMelo womens jersey this season, Nashville Predators jersey he’s been doing everything right this whole time and just not getting the results. His shooting percentage spiked up to a more Kopitar-esque 15 percent in January and the results followed cheap hockey jerseys. Getting Tyler Toffoli back to balance out the offense for the Kings can only help.
Defensemen rising and fallingRoman Josi, D, Nashville Predators (up 28 spots to No. 67): The return from a nine-game absence was enough to rocket Josi back up the rankings, but I’m singling him out to remind you that he’s still not a No. 1 fantasy defenseman this season. We have him ranked 14th among defenders and, to be frank, that’s higher than he deserves, based on the on-ice results. That said, he is still in a position to succeed and even though he was eased back into the lineup on the third pair, Josi still got about half the team’s power-play duties on the blue line.

Alex Galchenyuk, C, Montreal Canadiens (down 23 spots to No. 82): Sometimes your buddies can save your seat for you, sometimes Calle Jarnkrok mens jersey they can’t. After Galchenyuk missed more than a month with a knee injury, he didn’t come back to find his regular spot in the lineup as the top-line pivot between Max Pacioretty and Alexander Radulov. Although the Habs skated him there to make wholesale nhl jersey China his return welcome, he was quickly relegated to the second line, while upstart Phillip Danault was returned to the top trio San Jose Sharks jersey. Galchenyuk still Brock Nelson Cheap jersey gets to see his pals on the power play, but that isn’t enough for him to resume his quality campaign with confidence. This could change again, and Galchenyuk could replace Danault during a slump, but for now his value takes a big hit, as the Canadiens can offer only one dangerous line to their opponents as long as Pacioretty and Radulov are playing together.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 45 saves and James Neal scored both goals to lead the NHL’s newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights, to a 2–1 win at Dallas in the first game in franchise history. Fleury’s 45 saves were the second-most by a goaltender in the first regular-season game for a team entering the NHL since 1967–68, behind the 48 saves made by Jeff Hackett in the Sharks’ debut, a 4–3 loss at Vancouver in October 1991. Neal is the seventh player since 1967–68 to score more than one goal for a team playing its first game in the NHL. The others: Bill Hicke (1967–68 Seals, two goals), Brian Kilrea (1967–68 Kings, two goals), Real Cloutier (1979–80 Nordiques, three goals), Pat McLeod (1991–92 Sharks, two goals), Chris Kontos (1992–93 Lightning, four goals) and Doug Smail (1992–93 Senators, two goals).
The NHL has nothing in its rule book addressing anthem protocol – what players must do or even Austin Watson jersey elite where they need to be while it is performed.

The Hurricanes’ coaching staff underwent a few changes this offseason. Bill Peters, Steve Smith and Rod Brind’Amour are remaining in their current capacities. And video coach Chris Huffine got some help with the addition of L.J. Scarpace jersey. Where the majority of the change occurred was in the goaltending department.

Alexander Radulov signs five-year contract with Stars

Forward Alexander Radulov signed a five-year, $31.25 million contract with the Dallas Stars on Monday.

Radulov, who turns 31 on July 5, became an unrestricted free agent Saturday and decided between the Stars and Montreal Canadiens. He said Montreal made a similar offer after he agreed to terms with Dallas but wasn’t going to go back on the contract, which has an average annual value of $6.25 million.

“When I put everything on the table and I saw what I have, it was easy decision to go to Dallas,” Radulov said. “With Montreal, I don’t think we even got that close, in my opinion.

“The money was basically at the same level. For me it was more the term because I really wanted five years at least on my deal and I want to play and not worry about it. Just play hard and try to win.”

Stars captain Jamie Benn was a key part of the sales pitch when he called and spoke to Radulov for about 10 minutes about the city and the Stars.

“He called me like three days ago right when we started talking,” Radulov said. “He told me about the team, about the guys, about the city. And I really liked it and I’m really thankful for the Dallas organization to give me a chance to play with a great player.”

Radulov also spoke with Stars coach Ken Hitchcock and a friend who played for Hitchcock with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The additions of goalie Ben Bishop, defenseman Marc Methot and center Martin Hanzal were signs to Radulov that Dallas is headed in the right direction.

“No doubt that was huge,” Radulov said. “You always want to play on the teams that have a chance to win, and I really saw that in Dallas. Yes, they had couple [of] tough years in the past … but when you look [at the offseason] you see that the team really wants to build and win.”

While Radulov did his research, the Stars did their due diligence on Radulov, who returned to the NHL last season after spending the previous four with CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League.

“We watched him perform in Montreal, played very well, he’s been one of the top players in the world, it’s no secret,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said. “Then we made some calls on him, we know a lot of people that played with him and that everybody raved about him, about his personality. And then when I had a chance to talk to him, once we hit free agency, I was so impressed.”

Radulov had 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) in 76 games with Montreal last season, finishing second in points behind forward Max Pacioretty (67). Radulov led the Canadiens with seven points (two goals, five assists) in six games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Selected by the Nashville Predators with the No. 15 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft, Radulov had 95 points (44 goals, 51 assists) in two seasons with Nashville from 2006-08 before playing four seasons for Salavat Yulayev Ufa of the KHL. He returned to the Predators in 2011-12 for nine regular-season games and the playoffs.

Mikhail Sergachev embraces new opportunity with the Lightning

Mikhail Sergachev was on vacation with his family in Cyprus when he received a message on his cell phone that would change his life forever.

“Some fan texted me and said, ‘Good luck in Tampa,’ and I was like, “What?” said the newest member of the Tampa Bay Lightning. “My phone doesn’t work here in Cyprus, so (Montreal Canadiens general manager) Marc Bergevin couldn’t call me.”

Sergachev said he immediately went on social media to find out what was going on and read about his trade to the Lightning on Twitter. Sergachev was dealt to Tampa Bay on Thursday in exchange for Jonathan Drouin.

“My reaction was like, I don’t know,” Sergachev said. “When I got drafted by the Habs, I was a big fan of them and I played for them. But then I got traded and first reaction was I was kind of frustrated and shocked but after that, it’s a new opportunity for me.”

Sergachev was picked by Montreal with the ninth overall selection in the 2016 NHL Draft and impressed the Canadiens enough in training camp to earn a spot on the Opening Night roster. Sergachev made his NHL debut on October 13, 2016 at Buffalo and played two more games with the Habs before being sent back to his junior team in Windsor. Sergachev got in one more game with Montreal in the final game of the regular season to finish plus-one through four NHL games before rejoining the Spitfires for their playoff run.

In his second season with Windsor, Sergachev scored 10 goals, added 33 assists and was plus-22 through 50 regular season games. He helped Windsor win the prestigious Memorial Cup to conclude his junior season and was named to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team.

Sergachev said once he did a little more research on the Lightning following the trade, his excitement to become a part of the franchise grew.

“I’ve heard a lot about the organization and they play fast hockey and they play offensive hockey,” he said. “They have some great players and they have a great coaching staff and management. It’s just awesome.”

Sergachev is still juniors eligible for one more season, but Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman said the organization “will give Mikhail an opportunity to make our team” coming out of training camp. For his part, Sergachev feels he’s ready to make the full-time leap to the NHL. In 2015-16, his first season in the Ontario Hockey League, Sergachev won the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the league’s most outstanding defenseman, becoming the youngest rookie to win the award and second-youngest defenseman overall to receive the honor.

“I feel like I had enough juniors and I played a lot in juniors and I learned a lot in those two years,” Sergachev said. “I feel like this is my time to play in the NHL, and I’ll do my best and I’ll play my best to make the Lightning roster.”

Lightning fans will get an early opportunity to see Sergachev up close. The 18-year-old left-handed shot said he will attend the Bolts’ development camp from June 27 through July 1. The camp will be held at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum and is free and open to the public.
